If we are talking about museums in Madrid, the first one to come to mind is surely the Prado Museum. Of course, this is a must visit museum if you’re in town. However, there are plenty of other surprising museums for you to discover too, including the Casa Museo del Ratón Pérez.

However much you may think that you know Madrid, there are always surprising new places to find on a guided tour. Some of these tours are really well priced, including some which are less than 10 euros. So why not enjoy a fun and cheap outing while discovering the Spanish capital?
The Parque Warner is a great place to really enjoy a day in Madrid. Children and adults alike can meet the characters from some of world’s most famous cartoons, such as Tweety and Bugs Bunny, there are also some really enjoyable rides and fantastic live shows.
Enjoy a good cocido madrileño
One thing which is easy to find in Madrid is good food. However, the star of the show has to be the famous cocido madrileño, a hearty dish that is best sampled at a traditional establishment such as the Madrid de los Austrias. We recommend you go with an empty belly, as it will fill you up and you’ll need some space.
Find a treasure at el Rastro
Every Sunday, a typical thing to do in Madrid is to head to el Rastro, located in the surrounding streets of the Plaza de Cascorro. Here you can buy clothes, furniture, tools, etc. but there are also some wonderful antiques to be found.
Enjoy an aperitif at La Latina
Another typical Sunday plan in Madrid is to head to La Latina for some tapas at one of the many bars, like some tasty huevos rotos con jamón, for example. Of course, you don’t just have to stay in one place, one of the great pleasures is hopping from bar to bar and soaking up the atmosphere.
See a musical in Gran Vía
If you are a fan of musicals, one of the best things to do on your visit to Madrid is to see one of the wonderful shows in Gran Vía in Madrid. We are not just talking about the spectacular Lion King (which is at the top of everybody’s list), there are also plenty of other lesser known but equally as good shows which will get you singing and dancing in the aisles.
Discover the El Escorial
A must-see in Madrid is El Escorial, built for Felipe II by the architect Juan de Herrera. It is the home to the pantheon where numerous Spanish Monarchs are buried. At this impressive monument you can see where the Austrias and the Bourbons lived, and there is also an incredible library to visit.
Shopping at Las Rozas Village
If you like to shop, you have to visit Las Rozas Village. It is located just outside of Madrid and is the perfect place to go shopping or to grab something to eat, see a live concert, etc. It is the ideal place to escape your daily routine and to treat yourself.
